Membership form and update
We look forward to seeing again all our members who are currently playing outdoors for the summer season and also to those who wished to delay their return back to the club. Thanks to all of you that have been able to support and play at the club in the last few months. 
We have kept the details of everybody who was a member prior to the first lockdown, unless you have instructed us otherwise. If you are still unsure about starting to bowl we are happy to put your membership to 'pending' for the time being. If you are sure you will not be renewing, again please let us know and we will remove your details from the database and we thank you for your support over the many years. The membership form can be downloaded here for printing and completing, The forms can also be picked up in the club. 
The subscription for the year 21/22 will remain the same at £50 as long as it is paid by 30 September and £60 if paid after, so please get it in soon. The form advises you the different ways it can be paid. Please place your membership form in the black box outside the main office.
We have planned for a full programme of bowling for the Winter Season. So please lookout for details of leagues, competition, and club matches. The league entry form for the winter season is now out and can be obtained in the club or click here to download a copy.  Entry forms need to be in by the 19th September. The AGM was well attended and it was agreed that the three new Directors, Trevor Taylor, Margaret Daynes and Stuart Thomas be appointed to the Board. Mentioned within the report that was given at the meeting, we would very much like to see more volunteers for the Director position, so please come forward and discuss this with any of the Directors. 
Mentioned also at the AGM, was that behind any successful Board, is the support from members, assisting in many different roles and we have a number of roles which we would like to fill. These roles can be seen on the web but for those without access to the web we need volunteers such as Cashiers, Minute takers for both the Board and the Bowls Committee, Carpet cleaners (rotation of about once a month), Bar staff, Stewards. Please speak to any of the Directors regarding these roles.
It is our intent to make the club, card only for rink fees, lockers, club shirts and bar payments and this is because of the lack of cashiers and the time it takes to deal with cash and pass this to the bank. We know the card only system will take a little time to achieve, so we are encouraging all of you to start paying by card but if you need to pay by cash for your rink payments please have the correct amount as the stewards do not handle cash.
We need more stewards. We have a number of members who volunteered over the summer season and we thank them very much for their time and for kindly agreeing to continue but we still desperately need more. Main areas of concern are for Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons and Sunday mornings. If we are unable to get stewards to cover these sessions we may need to close the club during those sessions something we do not want to do. Please contact Trevor soonest if you wish to volunteer, even if you can only help out every other week or be called upon as a standby.
Thank you for viewing our new website, please note that if you want to send an email to us, use the link which is shown on this site or go direct using [email protected] and one of the Directors will respond. Bowlr is being updated on a regular basis, you should now be able to go in and indicate your interest in playing in any of the club friendlies/county and national matches that are coming up, although we will still have the notices on the boards as you enter the club. 
We have a new caterer, Lindsay Brown. We have given the name ‘Eagles Nest’ to the kitchen and Lindsay will be placing menu’s on the web for three course lunches at £10 per head, which she is currently catering for every two weeks on a Wednesday. You are asked to contact Lindsay direct if you wish to come along on the telephone number provided at the bottom of the menu.
We have a England Charity event on the 25th September where an England representative side will be taking on Daventry. In the morning you will have the opportunity to come along and play with some of the England players, have some coaching by some of the players which also includes Alex Marshall who is attending this event. In the afternoon there will be the match against England and in the evening we are having a social where there will be an auction where all proceeds go to the England Charity ‘Ambitious About Autism’ which we hope all of you will support. Details of this event is on the website. We also have the Juniors starting that day so if you know of any juniors that are interested to know about bowls and would like to try it out, please bring them along, they start at 9.45am. 
We also have an Open Day on the 2nd & 3rd October, we are looking for volunteers to assist us on those days, either or both days showing possible new members the basics of bowling. We also need some help behind the bar and some other minor but important tasks, so please contact any of the Directors if you wish to volunteer. Also if you know of anyone who wants to try bowls, bring them along.
